Guide to Evolving Gear
What is Gear evolution?
Gear evolution is the process currently used in SUN for strengthening gear by means of increasing a piece of gears tier for example, making an Elite 1(E1) Helmet into Elite 1.5 (E1.5). This process can be repeated multiple times to achieve Elite 5.5(E5.5) gear.
What is required to evolve gear?
In order to evolve your gear you must first “Awaken” a piece of gear. Awakening a piece of gear increases its stats as well as prepares it for evolution. Each piece and weapon requires 9 awakening stages in order to be evolved. With each awakening stage requiring certain items to be in your inventory. These items are: the piece of gear you are awakening, a specified number of Crystal of Protection(COP)/Crystal of Destruction(COD), a specified number of Awakening Additives(AA). Please note that the type and quantity of COP/COD needed differs based on the current tier and type of gear you are awakening. See the table bellow for an example.
|Elite 3.5 Armor (Mystic Chest Armor)|
|Item:||Dark Dyed Sif Armor|
|COP:||Crystal of protection lv 3 x44|
|AA:||Awakening Additives x6|
This will awaken the specified piece 1 time and requires the same amount of materials for each awakening stage. This means to awaken the piece used in the example to stage 9 will require the following:
|Materials needed for all 9 stages|
How to get Awakening Additives.
Awakening Additives can be crafted via the Crafter Non-Playable Character(NPC) located in each town. All Awakening Additives cost 3,000,000 heim to craft regardless of the materials used to craft them. There are currently 4 different ways to craft Awakening Additives.
Go to the craftier and expand the drop down list. Click on the Awakening/Evolution Additives section. This will bring up four expanding categories. Ignore the top two for now they will be explained later. The third option is the Awakening Additives this is where you will craft the AA items as shown below.
How to get COP/COD.
Crystal of Protection/Destruction are obtained by crystallizing Elite tier Armor(COP)/Weapon(COD). To crystallize an item place the item in your inventory(it cannot be equipped, in storage, or in guild storage). Access your Action/Emotes window (Press K to bring up your skill window and navigate to the third tab) right click the icon “Item Crystallization”. Your cursor will change indicating crystallization is active open your inventory (Press I: expand inventory by pressing U if needed) and left click on the item you wish to crystallize.(Note: Items you cannot crystallize will become faded) Due to the gear type you will be prompted if you really wish to crystallize the item as the action cannot be undone. See below for an example of crystallization output
|Elite 4 Protector +0||⥤||COP lv 4×3|

What to do after gathering materials for Awakening.
Once you have gathered enough material to awaken an item (Note:Elite items will show you the needed COP/COD and awakenings when you hover over them in your inventory/equipped item window) you must speak to an Enchanter NPC located in every town. Select Equipment Awakening, this will open the awakening window. Right click the item you wish to awaken this will place it in the awakening window, it will also show the required amount of COP/COD needed for that item. Right click the COP/COD needed for awakening(must be in one stack), this will add them to the awakening window, it will also show the required amount of AA needed for that item. Right click the awakening additives(must be in one stack) this will add them to the awakening window. Click Awaken to awaken the item one time. Repeat until stage 9.
What to do after reaching Awakening stage 9.
Once you have reached stage 9 of awakening your next step is to evolve the piece into the next tier. This is done by first crafting an Evolution Additive(EA) through the craftier. Evolution additives are a bit harder to make as certain ones can be made using Mayans while others cannot. This guide will be covering how to craft without using Mayans. Go to the craftier and expand the drop down list. Click on the Awakening/Evolution Additives section. This will bring up four expanding categories. Ignore the top two for now they will be explained later. The fourth option is the Evolution Additives, the one you need will always start with the tier you currently have. Example being Elite 1 weapon you would need to craft the E1->1.5 Evolution Additive. If you have the needed materials for crafting the additive all material names will be written in green text click “Craft” to receive the EA.
How to Evolve gear.
Go to the Enchanter NPC and select Equipment Evolution. This will open the Evolution window. Right click the item you wish to evolve(this item must have a stage 9 awakening), this will place the item into the Evolution window it will also show the type of EA needed to evolve that particular tier item. Right click the EA this will place it into the Evolution window, it will also display the new item you will be evolving to. Click “Evolve” to receive the new item.
Evolving Enchanted items
Items that have been enchanted before evolving them will lose some or all of their enhancement after evolution. For example any item enchanted to +9 will be reduced to +7, Items enchanted to +6 will be reduced to +0(no enhancement). You can determine the new enhancement level before evolving an item as a list is displayed in the Evolution Window.
Go to the craftier and expand the drop down list. Click on the Awakening/Evolution Additives section. This will bring up four expanding categories. The top two sections are an interesting item to craft. You can use one of these items to instantly awaken an item to stage 9. They have different needed materials based of what tier of gear you are going to use it on. Make sure to have all needed materials as shown in the craftier to get one of these items.
